2023 LEGISLATIVE SESSION: WEEK 1

Session Kicks Off

Last week, the Mississippi Legislature convened at noon on Tuesday, January 3, to kick off the 2023 regular legislative session. We heard from the Jim Hill High School Choir as they entertained legislators and staff with a seasonal performance in the second floor rotunda. In addition, the Senate recognized Mississippi singing sensation group, Chapel Hart, for being named on the Next Women in Country List in 2021.

From now until we conclude the people’s business in April, the Legislature will be hard at work debating bills that impact you, our citizens. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to represent my Pine Belt constituents here in Jackson, but I can’t do it alone. That’s why I want to hear from you on your ideas or concerns for legislation affecting our great state. I can be reached at chjohnson@senate.ms.gov.

Independent Nursing Home Association

I was honored to speak with members of the Independent Nursing Home Association last week. I provided them with a legislative update and heard from members about the issues they face as they work to take care of patients.

Email Updates

Be on the lookout for more frequent email updates from me during the session. (And make sure to add my email to your address book to avoid these updates going to your spam folder.)
