Forrest County Fire Departments Get New Fire Trucks
During this year's Legislative Session, I helped secure nearly $1M for new equipment for Forrest County's Volunteer Fire Departments. With that money, along with funds provided by the county, we were able to provide two new fire trucks to our volunteer firefighters. The men and women of these departments give up their time and effort, risking their lives to keep their friends and neighbors safe. I was honored to play a role in supporting them and offering upgrades to their equipment, and I will always fight to help get better resources for our firefighters and first responders. Mississippi Consumer Finance Association Legislative Panel
Earlier in July, the Mississippi Consumer Finance Association held its annual meeting on the Alabama coast. Each year, the group brings together government officials, business leaders, and industry professionals to discuss ways to better the consumer finance industry through legislation, business practices, and professional development. I enjoyed the opportunity to join other Legislators to talk about some of the steps we've made, and plan to make, to strengthen this issue and create more economic opportunity for all Mississippians.

Meeting Former President George Bush
I was honored to have the opportunity to visit with former President George Bush and the First Lady, Laura. I met them while at a policy advisor network group hosted by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. The Bush family has a long legacy of public service and policy work. Jeb has devoted a significant amount of his time and resources in recent years to the topic of education and ensuring that every American child has the opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. It was a privilege to get some face time with the Bush family, and I hope to run into them again soon!
