September Update

Hattiesburg Tourism

Hattiesburg is growing quickly on the industry side, but it’s also home to great food, fun venues, and cool sights. With so many options, sometimes it’s hard to know what to do and where to go on a weekend.

Senator Chris Johnson and his 9th grade daughter, Emma Kathryn, enjoy a daddy-daughter date recently in the Hattiesburg area.

Jones Capital Expansion Groundbreaking

Earlier this month, Jones Capital broke ground on its new headquarters in Hattiesburg. The $50 million corporate investment will create an 80,000 square foot building in Midtown that includes workspace for 200 employees, all earning good wages. The Hub City continues to attract corporate investment that brings more better-paying jobs as well as increased revenue for the city and our state. As your Senator, I will always support policies that cut red tape and encourage more companies to move to the Pine Belt region.

Inflation and Responsible Government

If you’ve bought groceries lately, you’ll know well that the U.S. is experiencing high inflation – the highest in decades. One of the major contributing causes of the rapidly rising prices we are currently seeing is irresponsible government spending in Washington. While we cannot control what happens in Washington DC, the Mississippi Legislature has worked hard to ensure we are being prudent and responsible with your tax dollars. Because of conservative fiscal policy, Mississippi is experiencing rapid economic growth and increased revenue, even while we work to reduce your tax burden. As your state Senator and Vice Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, I commit to doing everything in my power to put more money back in your pockets.
