Remembering Billy Hudson
Earlier this month, I learned the devastating news that my friend and Forrest County Tax Collector Billy Hudson had passed away. Billy dedicated his life to public service, serving as a member of the Forrest County Agricultural High School board; the Forrest County Board of Supervisors; three terms in the state Senate; and as county tax collector. I knew Billy nearly all my life. He had a strong value system, always doing what he thought was right. Few others have impacted my professional and political life as strongly as Billy.

Mississippi’s FIRST Electric School Bus
I was excited to attend the ribbon cutting at Forrest County Agricultural High School to unveil our state’s first fully electric school bus. As a member of the Senate Education Committee, I am always looking for ways to give Mississippi students access to better resources and technology while saving taxpayer dollars.
PCS 9th Grade Visit
I had a lot of fun earlier this month when I got to speak with 9th graders at Presbyterian Christian School! These students are sharp, and I left highly encouraged about the future of our state. Thanks to these students for a great conversation.
Upcoming Legislative Session
The end of the year is fast approaching, which means the 2023 legislative session will soon commence. From topics like income taxes to economic and workforce development, next year’s session is already shaping up to be a meaningful one. Please let me know if there are any issues you’d like to see me tackle next year. I can be reached by email at chjohnson@senate.ms.gov.
